We are situated in the South of France (Fourques, Provence) between Avignon and Marseille. More precisely: 5 km west of Arles, on the edge of the National Park of the Camargue in the delta of the Rhône about 40 km from the Mediterranean (latitude 43,3 N).
Our climate is distinctly Mediterranean with dry, hot summers and mild, humid winters. Occasional frosts are possible from the end of December till mid February (around -5 to -8 C (23-20 F). The geographical situation is just cold enough to grow "continental" bulbs (needing a cold period) and without causing permanent damage to South African winter growers. |

The nursery, established since 1992, specialises in producing and distributing ‘botanical’ bulbs mainly originating from a Mediterranean climate.
|
| |
 |
Most bulbs are grown in the ground on 3ha, with a part in non-heated sheltered area of 2000 m2. About 2000 species are in cultivation of which only 400 are commercialised.
Most of them are winter growing (summer dormant) species, which are sold from July until the end of October.
The optimal planting period is July-August (especially for summer and autumn flowering species).
Summer growing species are available during the January-March period, while evergreen species are planted in the autumn and late winter months.

Visiting the nursery.
The surroundings of the farm are gradually converted in a bulb garden to demonstrate the use of bulbs in a southern climate. There is not a month of the year without a bulb in flower.
The end of the summer is announced by the Sternbergias, Amaryllis belladonna, followed in the Autumn by the Crocus, Nerine, etc. While numerous Narcissus, Lachenalia, Dahlias flower in midwinter. The real show starts in February, which lasts until May tailing off in June. Then the evergreen bulbs such as Tulbaghia, Agapanthus, Crinums etc. take over during the summer.
Visiting the nursery to see the flowering is possible; but, please, contact us beforehand, to allow us to welcome you the best possible way. tel: 0033(0)466 016 519
