Since the middle of June we hae been sending out mail orders; By the end of July all Safon crocus have been send (still of few of size 9+ are left, to be planted before the end of August).
At this stage several species are now out of stock.. The best planting time is now until the onset of the late summer rains (here end of august, early September).
Evergreen species (Dietes, Agapanthus, Tulbaghia, Iris unguicularis) should be planted in september when temperarures are cooler, just in time to allow good establishement before the winter sets in.
At the moment our gardens are semi desert like. Only Agapathus, Dietes and Crinum are in flower. Soon the late summer species (such Amaryllis, Lycoris, Urginea, Cyclamen) will be up, closely followed by the autumn flowering species: Sternbergia, Crocus, Hyacinthoides etc.
