Dear gardening friends,
Two weeks after the frost we can now evaluate the damage caused. Some species lost their leaves (Chasmanthe, Freesia, Sparaxis, Amaryllis) and are not likely to flower this year. New leaves can emerge, it is warm enough, but we have a severe drought in the south of France (no rain for 3 months) . To prevent species from going dormant too early I suggest to give a heavy watering now.
Attached you will find a picture of Crocus ancyrense, which flowered here from early January till end of February. Tolerated the frost and sgtrong cold winds. Now followed up by Crocus tommasianus, Even Galanthus, Anemones, Cyclamen and Narcissus are again flowering.
Only a few weeks left to plant your Agapanthus, Dietes, Tulbaghia and iris unguicularis.
Please note that our next OPEN DAYS will take place on 21-22/04/2012
