The genus
Exotic climbing species ( closely related to Sandersonia and Littonia) from the east coast of South Africa (and also further north), which is quite variable. In well sheltered spots these plants can be successfully grown in open ground; elsewhere in pots or in conservatories. Best to provide a support in the form of other climbers to provide the necessary shade. The tubers conserve well when left in a well drained soil with a good mulch on top. The tubers can also be conserved dry in woodchipping at a temperature between 10-18°C. When planted watering can start when temperatures excede 18°C.
