The genus
In May when most other South African Iridaceae have withered away, Tritonia is in full flower. The beautiful spikes densely crowded with numerous flowers incline under its weight. The flowers are very often in soft pastel colours. Leaves appear allready in October and bulbs should therefore be planted early in a sheltered position or in pots.
