Babiana rubrocyanea — Wine cup babiana
Les 3-4 fleurs par tige florale sont bicolores: bleu foncé avec un centre bordeaux (très beau). La plante n'est pas très vigoureuse et il est conseillé de la cultiver en pot. Actuellement seulement disponible dans une forme hybride(voir photo 5) à traduire
The genus
This south african genus is very easy to recognise by its ribbed and pointes leaves. Its growth pattern is fairly late and flowering occurs from the end of April until the end of May. Even during dormancy the flowerstems and leaves remain intact and the bulbs remain easy to locate during the summer. Small bulblets are formed on the underground part of the stem which begin the grow when the plant finally desintegrates. Also makes a suitable potplant.
