Dichelostemma ida-maia — Firecracker flower ,

The "firecracker flower" because of its loose umbel with unusual bright red tubular flowers carried on a 70cm tall stem, which may need some staking during flowering time. Beware of excess humidity during the summer resting period.

A Californian genus close toTriteleia and Brodiaea. Late in development and flowering, but therefore quite hardy. Humidity during the dormancy period will cause rotting of the basal plate.
