Herbertia lahue
Allthough it comes from a region with a regular rainfall pattern, Herbertia lahue has a late mediterranean cycle and goes dormant in the summer. A sequence of elegant lavender blue flowers with deep violet blotches on the base of the 3 segments. Flowers last long time but only open a few hours in the afternoon.
The genus
This south american iridaceae is closely related to the genus Alophia. Most Herbertia, Alophia and Calydorera are summergrowers or evergreen.
