Nerine bowdenii ‘Pink Triumph ‘
A highly recommended hybrid because of its tall stems whith bright pink flowers which last for up to 6 weeks during the end of the year. It is thought to be a cross between N. flexuosa and N. bowdenii. It has a short dormancy period at the end of the spring and the leaves reappear in July.
The genus
The south african genus Nerine is well known as a cutflower, but also makes an excellent garden plant. The almost evergreen species from the eastern part of South Africa (Eastern Cape, Natal and Transvaal) have a very short dormancy after flowering in December. The following species can be transplanted during winter : N. bowdenii , N. undulata and N. filifolia. In the warmer regions these plants need partial shade. The wintergrowing (summerdormant) species, featured in our summer catalog, come from the Western Cape.
