Geissorhiza darlingensis

Very rare, known from only a few localities near Darling in the southwestern Cape, South Africa, Geissorhiza darlingensis grows on damp flats. This small, 7-15 cm Iridaceae, with sticky, finely hairy-edged linear leaves, produces large pale yellow flowers with a deep purple centre in spring. Listed as threatened due to habitat loss, it grows well in pots. It requires soil that is cool during the growing season but well drained, and a sunny position.
