Hesperantha cucullata
A classic Hesperantha , particularly scented. Closed, the flowers are red and opened pure white; flowers over a long period. Does extremely will in our nursery (produces many seed and good corms)
The genus
Most Hesperantha come from the bulb paradise Namaqualand in South Africa . Its name literally translated from Greek means "evening flower" because the flowers open during the evening. Most are white or creamy and have a very pleasant scent to attract the night pollinators such as moths. It is advisable to plant the small bulbs in pots.
