Narcissus tazetta Grand Primo
Old, but vigorous cultivar with decorative leaves, which ressemble 'Avalanche'. A long flowering period in March with white petals and a creamy cup. The original stock as found in a old garden in Arles.
The genus
Narcissus mainly comes from the mountains in Southern Europe and the Mediterranean region. From the many hybrids and cultivars only a very limited selection is presented. Our choice, determined by their ability to persist in a mediterranean garden, is mainly directed to the botanical species and the tazetta group. As the roots of most species are persistent, Narcissus bulbs benefit of being left undisturbed for several years. The original species of the N. tazetta group were found in Italy and South of France. They will only perform well in this climat. As they don't need a cold period and flowering starts from Novembre onwards until March, which them ivery interesting to brighten up a wintergarden. All these species also do well in pots and can be brought indoor while flowering to appreciate their unique fragrance.
