A genus which mainly originates from areas with fairly regular rainfall in the eastern part of South Africa. They are very often found at higher elevations in moist places near streams.Cyrtanthus are mostly summer-growers or evergreen (but a few have a relatively short summer resting period). The most suitable planting time is late summer or early autumn.
