Eucharis amazonica
The genus
A tropical species from South America. Grows with the rithme of the monsoon rains. It requires a well drained position to prevent water logging. It does better in the warm valleys and produces bulblets. Left in the same spot for a couple of years it becomes a big clump of bulbs ad produces many flower scapes. Flowers from autumn through late spring and early summer. The delicately scented flowers are long lasting and can be used as cut flowers. This species will only flower when grown in tropical conditions.
