Native to southern Africa, Oxalis incarnata, also called pale pink-sorrel, is a herbaceous perennial in the Oxalidaceae family, spreading by rhizomes and small bulbs. The branching, hairless stems bear trifoliate leaves on long, upright petioles. In winter and spring, solitary five-petalled flowers open, white to pale pink, without yellow markings. Naturalised in several parts of the world as a garden escapee, it grows well in part shade, in well-drained soil, and can become somewhat invasive.
The genus
Oxalis is a very large genus , especially known by its invasive weedy species. However, the species presented make excellent and attractive container plants. When referring to an invasive species we will surely draw your attention to it. A large number of Oxalis species from South Africa that could be described as 'shrubby.
