Lovely dark coloured trumpets appear 2-3 weeks after the botanical species; flowers regularly when well established. This selection flowers quite late in the season (end of August-September). We continue to sell the bulbe afte their flowering until the leaves emerge.
The genus
The true amaryllis: dormant during the summermonths; suddenly, towards the end of the summer, the tall flowering scapes appear which bears a bouquet of fragrant trumpets. To be used in background against shrubs or in larger dry rockeries. In colder regions chose a warm sheltered position and protect the bulbs by a mulch. During heavy frosts protect the leaves with horticultural fleece. Flowering improves as the plants are established. Very suitable for cutflowers.
