Allium carinatum album

Keeled garlic (Allium carinatum), native from the Mediterranean region north to Scandinavia, is notable for its bell-shaped flowers on long, often nodding pedicels, gathered in loose umbels beneath persistent bracts. This 'album' form bears white flowers, rarer than the species' usual purplish-red colouring. It blooms in summer (June to August) on stems 25-45 cm tall, above narrow leaves. Undemanding and self-seeding readily, it thrives in well-drained, sunny soil.
