Crocosmia ex Villa thuret ??

This particular Crocosmia could not be confidently identified to species; its name only indicates that it was sourced from the Villa Thuret, a historic botanical garden in Antibes founded in 1857 by Gustave Thuret and renowned for acclimatising exotic plants. The following therefore describes characteristics of the genus. Native to sub-Saharan Africa and Madagascar, Crocosmia is a cormous perennial with upright, sword-shaped leaves, producing in summer spikes of tubular flowers with six spreading tepals in shades of orange to red. The genus needs a sunny position, well-drained soil and a dry winter rest.
