Cyclamen mirabilis

Endemic to southwestern Turkey, Cyclamen mirabile (the correct spelling, not 'mirabilis') grows up to 1150 m elevation in gritty soil, in pine woodland, maquis and evergreen oak scrub, in partial shade or in sunnier, drier sites at lower elevations. This tufted cyclamen reaches no more than 10 cm; its flattened tuber can reach 10 cm across. The rounded, scalloped leaves show a dark green 'Christmas tree' pattern edged in silvery grey. In autumn it bears coconut-scented flowers, white to deep pink, marked with a magenta blotch at the base of the petals.
