Hymenocallis longipetala

Native to southwest Ecuador and northwest Peru, in the Andes, Hymenocallis longipetala (sometimes classified under Ismene) is a bulbous Amaryllidaceae growing in rocky terrain. Strap-shaped leaves rise from a basal rosette, alongside a 20-80 cm scape bearing fragrant white flowers with six long, narrow petals surrounding a central cup, giving a spider-like appearance. Flowering occurs in summer (June-July). It requires full sun to partial shade and well-drained, organically rich soil.
