Arisaema consanguineum

Native from the Himalaya to China, Indochina and Taiwan, Arisaema consanguineum is a tuberous perennial of moist woodland. A single leaf, borne on a sturdy stem that can exceed 1 m, splits into a fan of 11 to 20 narrow leaflets. In spring to early summer a green or brown-and-cream striped spathe, tapering to a long point, encloses a whitish, club-shaped spadix. Flowers are followed by a dense cluster of bright red berries. The plant prefers light shade and cool, humus-rich soil.
