Freesia hybride double blanc

The genus Freesia, native to South Africa (mainly the Cape provinces), comprises around fifteen wild species that have given rise to hundreds of garden hybrids. Double white-flowered cultivars produce, on an arching scape 30-45 cm tall rising from a fan of narrow leaves, a one-sided spike of highly fragrant, funnel-shaped flowers with numerous overlapping white tepals. Flowering occurs in spring or, under glass, in winter. These freesias thrive in full sun, light well-drained soil, and are planted in autumn or spring depending on climate.
