Trimezia steyermarki

Native to southern Mexico, Central America, Colombia and Venezuela, Trimezia steyermarkii, the yellow walking iris, is a rhizomatous iridaceous plant reaching up to 1.5 m, with long, narrow, lanceolate leaves. The flowers, 6 to 8 cm across, bright yellow spotted with brown, have three large outer tepals and three smaller inner ones; they are borne on tall stalks rising above the foliage, short-lived but continually renewed across multiple flower stems. Grow in a warm, bright spot, in humus-rich, well-drained soil, protected from frost.
