Allium sp inconnu (ombelles)

This umbel-flowered Allium, of unidentified species, belongs to a large bulbous amaryllid genus widely grown for its ornamental inflorescences. The foliage, usually deciduous, linear or strap-shaped, releases a faint onion or garlic smell when crushed. The stout, upright flowering stem carries a terminal umbel, most often spherical, gathering 50 to 100 small star-shaped flowers of variable colour (white, pink, blue, purple, yellow). Flowering occurs in late spring and early summer. Grow in full sun, well-drained soil, planting bulbs in autumn.
