Cap de Bonne esperance UNKNOWN

This bulbous plant originates from the Cape region of South Africa, but its precise botanical identity (genus and species) could not be determined with certainty. The Cape region, heartland of the fynbos and the Cape Floristic Region, one of the world's richest biodiversity hotspots, is home to more than 1500 species of bulbous and other geophytic plants, many endemic to very restricted areas. Adapted to a Mediterranean-type climate of dry summers and wet winters, these plants survive recurrent wildfires thanks to their underground storage organ and often flower spectacularly in the aftermath of fire.
