The genus Bellevalia (family Asparagaceae, subfamily Scilloideae) comprises roughly sixty to eighty species distributed from the Mediterranean Basin to western and central Asia, as far as Uzbekistan and Pakistan. The exact species of this plant could not be confirmed. These are tunicate-bulbed geophytes with basal, parallel-veined linear leaves, producing a smooth, cylindrical flowering stem, from a few centimetres to over 50 cm tall, bearing a dense raceme of small bell-shaped flowers, usually blue to purple, resembling a miniature grape cluster. They flower in spring on well-drained soil.
