Lilium columbianum

Native to western North America, from British Columbia south to northern California and east to Montana, Lilium columbianum grows in forest clearings, meadows and coastal scrub from sea level up to about 3000 m. This scaly-bulbed lily reaches up to 1.2 m tall, with leaves arranged in whorls along the stem. From late spring through summer it bears several nodding, bright orange flowers spotted with purple-black, their tepals strongly recurved, lightly scented, with long projecting stamens. It prefers well-drained soil that stays cool at depth, in sun to part shade.
