Micranthus is an Iridaceae genus endemic to the Cape region of South Africa, where its seven species grow on sandy or sandstone soils, often in seasonally damp spots. These cormous plants bear narrow, cylindrical or strap-like leaves and a stem carrying a dense spike of small blue, white or purple flowers, giving the common name "comb flowers." Flowering occurs in early summer. Full sun and well-drained soil are recommended.
