The genus Blandfordia (Blandfordiaceae), known as Christmas bells, comprises four species endemic to eastern Australia (New South Wales, Queensland, Tasmania), growing in well-drained acid soils, sometimes seasonally waterlogged. These tufted herbaceous perennials grow from a rhizome with fibrous to tuber-like roots and narrow linear leaves. Flower stems carry up to twenty large pendulous, tubular to bell-shaped flowers, red to orange, often tipped yellow, blooming in the Southern Hemisphere summer around Christmas, giving the common name. Grown in moist but well-drained acid soil, full sun to part shade. As the exact species could not be confirmed, this covers the genus generally.
