Ipheion Nothoscordum sellowianum ?

This entry corresponds to Nothoscordum sellowianum (syn. Ipheion sellowianum, Beauverdia sellowiana), a small bulbous Amaryllidaceae native to the area around Buenos Aires, Argentina. It forms a low clump of narrow, bright green leaves no more than 2-3 cm tall, producing a steady succession of fragrant lemon-yellow, six-tepalled flowers from late January to May. The species is sterile and multiplies only by division of the bulbs, making propagation slow. It requires well-drained soil, a sunny position, and tolerates mild to cool temperate winters.
