Narcissus watieri

Native to high altitudes of the Moroccan High Atlas, around 2300-2500 m, notably at Oukaimeden and the Tizi-n-Test pass, Narcissus watieri is a near-legendary, rare and delicate species. In March-April, alongside its narrow, grass-like leaves, it produces shallow, star-shaped, pure white flowers with a reflexed corona showing a flush of green at the throat. A snow-melt species, it dislikes heat and drought and, in cultivation, needs cool, damp conditions rather than the dry summer rest typical of the genus.
