Romulea eximia

Growing in the Bokkeveld and Roggeveld regions of the northwestern Cape, South Africa, Romulea eximia is one of the largest-flowered species in the genus, its blooms reaching 40-60 mm long, old-rose to dark old-rose, with a maroon blotch on each segment and a pale yellow to greenish-yellow cup. The corm is obovoid, with straight, pointed basal teeth converging toward the base. The basal, thread-like leaves measure 25-45 cm. Like other Romulea, it grows in winter and is sown in autumn in well-drained soil, in a sunny position.
