Cypella osterianum

The name "osterianum" most likely corresponds to Cypella osteniana, native to Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina, where the species grows on stony grasslands and hillsides of southern and eastern Uruguay. This bulbous Iridaceae, 30 to 60 cm tall, flowers in spring; it is recognised by its two-flowered spathes and white flowers with markedly divergent tepals, typical of the genus Cypella. Like other species of the genus, it requires well-drained soil, a sunny position and a dry rest period after flowering.
