Herbertia quareimana

Herbertia quareimana is a bulbous Iridaceae native to the region of the Quareim river, straddling the border between Brazil and Uruguay, where it grows in stony grasslands. Although found close to the Argentine border, it has never been recorded there. Delicate in habit, it reaches 15 to 35 cm, with narrow, linear foliage and relatively small flowers with narrow, oblong inner tepals in the blue-mauve tones typical of the genus. Recent research has revealed two cytotypes influencing its morphology. It requires well-drained soil, a sunny position, and a dry rest during dormancy.
