Pamianthe info

The label "info" does not correspond to any specific epithet; the description below therefore applies to the genus Pamianthe in general, of which the most commonly cultivated species is P. peruviana. This small Amaryllidaceae genus, native to seasonally dry montane areas of Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador and Colombia, comprises semi-epiphytic bulbous plants growing on branches in moist forest. Linear, prominently veined leaves form a pseudostem. Flowering, often in winter, produces large, scented, long-tubed flowers in pairs, opening greenish-yellow and lightening to pure white. It is grown like an orchid, in a very open substrate, under light shade. Species not confirmed; description given at genus level.
