Iris lineata

Native to the mountains of Turkestan, between Tajikistan and Afghanistan, Iris lineata (synonym Iris suworowii) is a bulbous Juno iris growing on dry, rocky granite slopes between 1600 and 2500 m altitude. Its erect, linear leaves accompany a slender 15 to 35 cm stem bearing, in spring, two to three flowers 5 to 6 cm across, greenish-yellow and heavily veined with brownish-purple. Listed in the Red Data Book of Tajikistan, it requires well-drained soil, a sunny position, and a strictly dry summer dormancy in cultivation.
