Crocus antalycensis

The name "Crocus antalycensis" is most likely a spelling variant of Crocus antalyensis, which this description follows. Native to south-western Turkey, in the Antalya region, this cormous geophyte grows in evergreen oak scrub at around 1000 m altitude. In very early spring it produces a lilac-blue flower with a yellow throat. The species comprises three recognised subspecies, distinguished mainly by the degree of striping on the outer perianth segments. Grown as an ornamental, it requires well-drained soil, a sunny position, and a dry summer dormancy.
