Crinum erabescens

Most likely a misspelling of Crinum erubescens, this species is native to Mexico and tropical South America. It is a bulbous perennial with a bulb up to 10 cm in diameter, forming a clump of strap-shaped leaves up to 90 cm long. From July until the first frosts, it bears on reddish scapes — hence its name, meaning 'blushing' — umbels of up to 12 fragrant flowers, white flushed with red-purple and pink, about 12 cm long. More drought-tolerant than the related C. americanum, it thrives in rich, moist soil, full sun, and is damaged by severe frost.
