Crinum flaccidum

Native to inland Australia, along watercourses and floodplains across the eastern part of the country, Crinum flaccidum, known as the Darling or Murray lily, is a bulbous perennial herb to 90 cm, with limp basal leaves 30 to 80 cm long that die back each year. In summer and early autumn it produces umbels of 4 to 16 tubular flowers, white to cream or yellowish, sometimes unpleasantly scented, with long lobes up to 10 cm. Adapted to alternating floods and drought, it requires heavy soil, full sun, and a dry dormancy between flood events.
