Kniphofia citrina

Native to the southeastern coastal region of the Cape province in South Africa, Kniphofia citrina is a small perennial poker growing in dense grassland from sea level up to about 600 m elevation. Its glaucous, arching, keeled leaves form a strap-like tuft. From March to May, in the southern autumn, it produces rounded, lemon-yellow flowerheads on an upright stem. Undemanding in cultivation, it thrives in moist, well-drained soil and full sun, and keeps its evergreen foliage where winters remain mild.
