Lilium phillippinense

Native to the cool highlands of the northern Philippines, particularly the Cordillera Central in Benguet province, between 1,440 and 1,870 m elevation, as well as to Taiwan, Lilium philippinense (the correct spelling of 'phillippinense') is one of the few truly tropical lily species, marking the genus's southernmost natural range. A slender perennial 60 to 120 cm tall, it bears one to three large, fragrant, white trumpet-shaped flowers, occasionally tinged red or violet at the base, with yellow anthers. An endangered species, it requires well-drained soil, a bright position, and protection from severe frost.
