Native to central Chile, where it grows in dry, rocky ground near the coast among large Copiapoa cacti and xerophytic shrubs, often along seasonal drainage gullies, Leucocoryne incrassata (sometimes placed in the genus Pabellonia) is a bulbous plant reaching 45-50 cm tall. Its narrow, elongated foliage has the onion-like scent typical of the genus. The flowers, borne in a terminal umbel, resemble those of a small bicoloured daffodil. Flowering occurs in late winter, under Chile's mild, rainy-winter Mediterranean climate. Cultivation requires very free-draining soil, full sun, and a completely dry summer dormancy.
