Colchicum umbrosum

Native to Crimea, the Caucasus (including Georgia and Dagestan) and northern Turkey, where it grows in foothills and subalpine zones, in forests and shaded places — hence its species name — Colchicum umbrosum is a small Colchicaceae with an irregularly shaped corm. Its broad, strap-shaped, sheathing leaves appear with or after the flowers. In autumn it produces goblet-shaped flowers ranging from white to purplish pink. This small-statured species prefers a partly shaded position, cool, well-drained soil, and, like most colchicums, requires a completely dry summer rest period after flowering.
