Lachenalia latifolia

Native to coastal grassland in the southern Cape of South Africa, Lachenalia latifolia (now included within L. nervosa) is a bulbous plant of the Hyacinthaceae family. It produces two leaves marked with longitudinal veins, sometimes pustulate, framing a flowering stem 15 to 30 cm tall. Its bell-shaped white flowers are marked with reddish pink, with anthers exserted beyond the perianth. Like other lachenalias, it grows through the winter rainy season and requires well-drained soil, full sun, and a strictly dry summer dormancy once foliage dies down.
