Lachenalia rosea

Native to the Cape region of South Africa, where it grows near the coast on seasonally wet ground (type locality Caledon), Lachenalia rosea is a bulbous plant of the Hyacinthaceae family. Its strap-shaped leaves, sometimes spotted, precede a flowering stem bearing oblong, bell-shaped flowers in bright pink or pink and blue, marked with darker veining. Flowering occurs in winter, from January to February under temperate cultivation. Like other South African winter-rainfall bulbs, it requires well-drained soil, full sun, and a completely dry summer dormancy.
