Category photo (no photo of its own for this entry)
This unidentified accession belongs to the genus Albuca (Asparagaceae/Hyacinthaceae), which includes more than a hundred bulbous species native mainly to southern Africa, with a few extending elsewhere in Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. Albuca species produce fleshy, strap-shaped leaves and an unbranched flowering stem bearing flowers that are typically white and yellow, each outer tepal marked with a central green or brown stripe. The accession code notes a white/yellow colouring, consistent with most species in the genus, but the exact species remains undetermined. Cultivation requires well-drained soil, a sunny exposure, and a dry dormancy depending on the plant's origin.
