Anemonella thalictroides

Native to eastern North America, from Maine to northern Florida and west to Minnesota and Texas, Anemonella thalictroides — now reclassified as Thalictrum thalictroides — is a small tuberous perennial of the Ranunculaceae, known as rue anemone. Its tuberous roots produce thrice-divided foliage resembling meadow-rue, on stems 10 to 20 cm tall. Between March and May it bears delicate white to pale pink flowers with 5-10 petal-like sepals and greenish-yellow stamens. A woodland spring ephemeral, it dies back after seeding and needs rich, cool, humus-rich soil in partial shade.
