The exact species of this Dierama was not specified on the label; the description is therefore given at genus level. Dierama, known as angel's fishing rod or wandflower, is a genus of Iridaceae with some forty species, endemic to Africa from the South African Cape to the Ethiopian highlands, with a centre of diversity in KwaZulu-Natal. These are evergreen cormous perennials with narrow, tough, fibrous foliage forming clumps from which long, slender, arching stems rise in summer. The bell-shaped, pendulous flowers open in succession along the inflorescence, in shades of white, yellow, pink, magenta or purple. Grow in soil that is well drained yet cool, in a sunny position.
