Freesia sparmannii

The correct name for this species is Freesia sparrmanii (not 'sparmannii'), honouring the naturalist Anders Sparrman. Endemic to a very restricted area of the Western Cape, in the Langeberg foothills near Grootvadersbosch, South Africa, it is a rare geophyte with a tunicated corm, placed in the genus's section Viridibractea, characterised by firm, green floral bracts with a narrow translucent margin. Like other Freesias, it bears a one-sided spike of 2 to 8 small, fragrant, funnel-shaped flowers 1–2.5 cm across, in the genus's typical pale colour range. It requires well-drained soil, a sunny position, and dry summer dormancy following spring flowering.
