Lycoris houdyshelli

Native to eastern China (Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces), Lycoris houdyshelii is a bulbous geophyte of the family Amaryllidaceae, with a subglobose bulb about 3 cm across. Its dark green, strap-shaped leaves with a pale midvein appear in autumn and reach about 30 cm long. The flower stem, roughly 30 cm tall, bears an umbel of 4 to 7 white flowers marked with a green midvein, with narrow, strongly undulate tepals and long-exserted stamens. It requires well-drained, humus-rich soil, partial shade, and a pronounced summer dormancy after the foliage dies down.
